VINE COUNSELLING SERVICES is a charity based in Congresbury offering affordable (donation based) professional counselling to people in the community who need help to cope with anxiety, stress, bereavement, depression, bullying, trauma, loneliness, abuse, family problems.
Our mental health and wellbeing is so important after such a difficult 18 months. We:-
offer confidential 1:1 counselling with qualified Counsellors and those on placement through local colleges/universities.
offer both long and short term counselling and our work is guided by the individual needs of each client.
operate in a climate of acceptance and respect and value every person regardless of belief.
Privacy and confidentiality is an essential part of what we offer.
As the country moves through each phase of 'unlocking' and lifting of restrictions, the service provided at Vine Counselling Services continues with the our counselling team offering face to face sessions in Congresbury, although we also continue to offer some online appointments. For face to face sessions, despite the Government's announcement regarding a lifting of all restrictions on 19th July, we have decided to continue with all the necessary and stringent procedures and PPE in place and we ask that no clients attend the premises if they, or anyone from their household, have any Covid19 symptoms, have been instructed to self isolate, are awaiting test results or have booked a test. We remain committed to offering the maximum number of appointments possible. If you need to talk to someone, please contact us via email, our website or telephone 01934 876377.
RAISING FUNDS IS STILL A PRIORITY Our client donations cover around one half of our outgoings and your donation or offer of regular support really will make a difference and enable us to help more people who need it. If you feel you can help with a donation, no matter how small, please contact us or go to

Message from Rachel Mason - Patron of Vine
"I wanted to share a picture I made which reflects how I feel about my mental health before I had counselling from Vine Counselling Services. It felt like I was breaking apart and that pieces of my sanity were falling away leaving me incomplete and afraid that I would never feel whole again. Without the support of Vine Counselling Services I wouldn’t have survived this time and wouldn’t be here today."

SIMON ROBERTSON'S PPE....Positive Potty Experience for Vine
We are thrilled to announce that Simon Robertson (husband of our amazing Administrator Tracy) has successfully completed part 1 of an incredible physical challenge to raise funds for Vine!! On a very hot weekend at the beginning of June, Simon completed a 350km King Alfred's Way cycling feat (an off-road mountain bike unrelenting challenge). His determination and commitment, not to mention perseverance and positivity, enabled him to complete this first part of his fundraiser and we salute you Simon! He has raised over £7200 so far which will make a massive difference to our service to the community. And did we mention he wore his full dental PPE throughout?!!! Thank you Simon and congratulations.
Simon's second part of the challenge is to complete a Tough Mudder 10 mile run on 21 August (with obstacles including mud, ice cold water and even electric shocks!)
Simon described the challenge as "stepping out of his comfort zone and doing something different", saying, "I know that there will be pain and discomfort in this challenge, but I also know that it will be relatively short lived. For those that I would like to help, the road to being in a better place is much much harder."
Thanks to those who have already sponsored Simon and its not too late to sponsor him for the next phase! Please support him, and us, by going to his fundraising page, reading his story, and sponsoring him. Match funding is available, therefore, every £1 you donate will go further. Just click on the event below to go to Simon's Virgin Money Giving page and read more....
could you join our team at Vine?
If you are a qualified Counsellor and feel you could offer a few hours per week for face to face or online appointments,
on a voluntary basis, we would really love to hear from you - we have 2/3 vacancies to start in September and a waiting list of clients ready.
A proportion of your supervision will be covered together with insurance.
We need some help on alternate Wednesday late afternoons and evenings (starting in September) from around 4.30pm to 8.30pm with reception cover - Our reception team play a key part in our work as they welcome clients, register visitors to the building (following Covid19 procedures) and organise appointments. If you would like details, please email Liz Linnitt on
Thank You
It can sometimes feel like we are not doing enough but our aim is to use our resources to do as much as we can, whilst planning for the future and expansion of our service. We continue to remember that "Helping one person might not change the whole world but it could change the world for one person". Every individual matters and if you are looking for help, please do not hesitate to call us. Thank you so much. Please contact Liz Linnitt by email on
Introducing the inspiring Stuart Eldridge who was planning to run the Virgin Money London Marathon to raise money for Vine this year......until it was postponed due to the pandemic. Not giving up, Stuart and his fiance Emma decided to run the Virtual London Marathon which they both did in the most awful conditions! £1333 has so far been raised for our work - thank you so much!
NOW, Stuart and Emma are both taking their places to run in the 2021 Marathon in October and have actually changed their wedding date so that they can run.
We are inspired by you both and wish you all the best as you continue with your training and fundraising.
If you wish to support Stuart, please donate using this link.
Vine is pleased to have received financial support from the Quartet Community Foundation - Coronavirus Response Fund, the National Lottery Community Fund and the Police Community Trust (Avon and Somerset) to help with some of the running costs to enable us to continue to provide our services during the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond when planned fundraising events cannot take place.
