As we near the end of January, we all know someone who is affected by Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) which is a type of depression that comes and goes in a seasonal pattern. SAD is sometimes known as "winter depression" because the symptoms are usually more apparent and more severe during the winter. For some people, the symptoms can be severe and have a significant impact on their day-to-day activities. Your GP will recommend the most suitable treatment programme for you but the main treatments relate to lifestyle measures – including getting as much natural sunlight as possible, exercising regularly and managing your stress levels, light therapy – where a special lamp called a light box is used to simulate exposure to sunlight and also talking therapies, like counselling. If you feel it might help if you see a Counsellor to talk about SAD, please email us (see Contact us at the top of this page) or call 01934 876377.
Are you a qualified Counsellor who could offer 2-3 hours voluntarily on a Tuesday evening or a Thursday afternoon or evening? Maybe you need more hours for your accreditation? If so, we would love to hear from you! Travel expenses and a training budget are offered.
Please see below for details of our next fundraising event - a Spring Ladies Night on 16th March 2019 in Wrington.
We cannot rely entirely on donations from clients to fund the service we provide. We have to raise money all year round, through events, one off donations, legacies, individual fundraising efforts, grants, Church donations and our Five Year Friends who pay something each month. Without these additional sources of income, Vine could not continue to offer up to 30 sessions each week. We currently receive around 5-10 new enquiries each week. The need is great in our community. Please offer help if you can. THANK YOU.

Did you know...
That only approximately one-third of the funds needed to run the services we provide comes from client donations?
The other income comes from grants, one-off donations, five year friends, local business support and fundraising events organised by the Vine team.
